43 upazilas in Bangladesh were affected by floods

In Feni, more than 200 villages in the Fulgazi, Parshuram, and Chagalnaiya Upazilas have been submerged in the third round of floods this year, leaving nearly 200,000 residents stranded in waterlogged conditions. A person has gone missing after being swept away by strong currents, and a new breach in the Silonia River dam has exacerbated the flooding. The main road connecting Fulgazi and Parshuram Upazilas to the Sadar areas is under two to four feet of water, cutting off access. Heavy rainfall, with 282 mm recorded in the last 48 hours, has pushed the Muhuri River 85 cm above the danger level, causing further flooding through 27 broken sections of the Muhuri-Kahua-Silonia river flood control dam. Rescue operations, aided by the Army and Coast Guard, are ongoing, with about 300 people rescued so far. Many residents remain trapped, and the situation continues to worsen as water levels rise. The Upazila administration has distributed 500 packets of dry food, with more supplies available, but the scale of the disaster is overwhelming. Some areas are inaccessible without speedboats, making rescue efforts challenging.
